BANANA NUT BREAD WITH STREUSEL TOPPING
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 cup mashed bananas
1/2 cup margarine, softened
2 eggs
4 tbsp. sour milk
2 cups plus 2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts
FOR THE STREUSEL TOPPING:*
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup nuts, chopped
1/4 cup margarine
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a loaf pan.
Mix together sugar, banana, 1/2 cup margarine, eggs, and sour milk.
Combine 2 cups plus 2 tbsp. flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir into creamed mixture just until combined. Stir in the 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Pour in prepared pan.
Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean. This bread freezes well.
TO PREPARE THE STREUSEL TOPPING:
