Recipe(tried): Swedish Coconut Balls

Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars
My mother-in-law lived in Germany for a year and brought back wonderful recipes. When I saw your request I just had to send you the recipe. I personally have had a hard time finding the bakers ammonia down here. Good Luck!

SWEDISH COCONUT BALLS

2 cups sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup shortening
1 tsp vanilla
4 cups flour
2 tsp Bakers Ammonia
pinch of salt
2 cups flaked coconut

Cream together sugar, butter, shortening, and vanilla. Set aside.

Mix flour, bakers ammonia and salt together; add to butter mixture. Add coconut. Shape dough into balls and place 2 1/2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake in 325 degree F oven for 15 minutes. DO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR WHILE COOKIES ARE BAKING.

Makes about 8 dozen cookies
