Recipe: Banana Spice Cookies (with raisins and walnuts)

BANANA SPICE COOKIES

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1 cup mashed ripe bananas (3 medium)
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
1/2 cup raisins

In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and brown sugar. Add eggs and bananas; mix well.

Combine dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in nuts and raisins. Chill (dough will be very soft).

Drop chilled dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.

Makes 3 dozen cookies
