If you are taking the wilton classes they should teach you the diffrent Thicknesses of the frostings, It has been quite a few years since I took the classes but I know that the thinner on was for frosting the cake and the thicker one was for roses and the medium was for your borders. We always had 3 seperate conatiners of frosting for the diffrent Thicknesses. Hope that helps
