Recipe: Buttermilk Pecan Pie, Vinegar Pecan Pie, Southern Pecan Pie (with Vinegar) for M
Desserts - Pies and TartsHi Mary Ann:-) I found pecan pie recipes with buttermilk and pecan pie recipes with vinegar but none that called for both ingredients. Should you find such a recipe, please post it. I think many people would be interested in trying that recipe.
BUTTERMILK PECAN PIE
1 cup chopped pecans
1 unbaked 10-inch pie shell
3 Tbsp flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
Sprinkle pecans in pie shell; set aside.
Sift flour and salt together. Cream butter in mixer bowl, add sugar 1/2 cup at a time beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla, then beat in eggs one at a time. Add flour mixture gradually mixing well after each addition. Add buttermilk mix well. Pour over pecans.
Bake 300 degrees for 1 hour. This pie is not as rich as some pecan pies.
VINEGAR PECAN PIE
Yields: 8 servings
"A favorite pie that is not quite as sweet tasting as the standard pecan pie. Whips up in minutes."
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 teaspoons white vinegar
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1 unbaked 8-inch pie crust
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C.)
In a large bowl, mix together sugar and margarine. Stir in eggs, vanilla and vinegar. Stir in pecans. Pour into pie shell.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until top is lightly browned, and filling is set.
SOUTHERN PECAN PIE
3 eggs
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup pecans
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 tsp. vinegar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1 (9-inch) unbaked shell
In medium bowl beat eggs, stir in sugar, pecans, corn syrup, vinegar, vanilla and salt. Pour in shell.
Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes then bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes until it doesn't wiggle.
