Recipe: Chai Crunch (Chex and Cherrios party mix)

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup honey
1 teaspoon instant nonfat dry milk or non-dairy original-flavor creamer, if desired*
1/2 teaspoon EACH ground cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and dried orange peel
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups Corn Chex cereal
3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
3 cups Honey Nut Cheerios cereal
1 cup dried banana chips
1 1/2 cups sliced almonds
Heat oven to 300 degrees F.
In 1-quart saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Remove from heat. Stir in honey, dry milk, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, orange peel and vanilla until well mixed.
In large roasting pan, mix remaining ingredients. Pour butter mixture over cereal mixture; toss until evenly coated.
Bake 45 to 60 minutes or until golden brown, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on waxed paper or paper towels until cooled, about 15 minutes.
Store in airtight container.
*For spicier flavor, omit the dry milk or creamer.
Makes 22 servings (1/2 cup each)
