Recipe(tried): Chili Bowls with Cheese, Chili Cheeseburgers, and uses for leftover chili
Main Dishes - Chilis, StewsHi how are you,
I have this wonderful thing I do when I make my own chili. Buy those taco salad shells (the Aztec name brand) or make your own using tortillas. All that they are is baked or deep fried tortillas shaped around bowls. The store bought ones are more convenient and less messy. After you bake them, fill them up with chili, top with shredded cheese, and stick them back in the oven long enough for the cheese to melt into the chili. Then you have a golden taco salad bowl with chili and cheese. You can dress them up with a little hot sauce, sour cream, lettuce, onion and tomato.
If you have extra chili, add it to your spaghetti sauces, use it on hot dogs, or make chili macaroni. Or you can even make chili cheese burgers. Make cheeseburgers and when they are done, add a spoonful of chili on top of the cheese on the burger, then add a pickle slice or onion ring. Trust me, this is delicious. Every time I have made this it was a hit. With your chili burgers you can make floats (a scoop of ice cream in a glass of cola or other soda) they are delicious together or by themselves.
Speaking of what goes with chili; chili cheese fries are also good. Make French fries, drain them on paper towel, top them with chili and shredded cheese, and enjoy.
If you have any leftover it really freezes well in a butter container or zip lock bag. But if you just want something to make with chili cornbread would be it enjoy!!!!
Mabuha and best regards Deanna
