Chili Stuffed Bread
1 round or long loaf of French bread
1/2 cup bread crumbs (inside of bread)
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1/2 cup chili sauce
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 tbsp. horseradish
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. salt
ground black pepper
oil
Scoop out inside of loaf, leaving a shell. Use inside of bread to make bread crumbs. Measure 1/2 cup; set aside.
Combine reserved bread crumbs with remaining ingredients and brown in oil in skillet. Stir while cooking so mixture is crumbly. Remove from heat and drain well when meat is almost done.
Stuff into hollowed bread loaf. Replace top; wrap with foil.
Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes.
Hi Darlene,
I think someone will be able to find the exact recipe you're looking for but in the meantime, here is one similar to what you described but not using garlic bread. Of course, a brushing of garlic butter on the inside and/or outside of the bread before baking will take care of that.
Happy Cooking!
