Recipe: Chocolate-Banana-Oat Cookies

Chocolate-Banana-Oat Cookies
Makes about 4 dozen cookies

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 3/4 cups quick-cooking or regular oats
1 cup mashed ripe bananas (2 to 3 medium)
1/2 cup milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips

Heat oven to 400. Mix all ingredients. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about ten minutes or until light brown.
