Recipe: Chrusciki
Misc. Chrusciki (pronounced sort of like, kooshCHICKee)
Source: rec.food.baking/Jodi L Poniewaz
This is sort of like a cookie and is very good as i recall- I haven't made/had them in years but I used to love them. :)
1 cup flour
3 egg yolks
3 Tbsp sour cream
1 tsp vanilla
1 Tbsp vodka, whiskey, or vinegar
salt, a pinch
shortening or oil
powder sugar
Put flour in a bowl, make well in middle. Add egg yolks, blend with your hands until nicely mixed. Add next four ingredients, blend well. Work into a smooth dough on a floured surface. Will have air bubbles throughout. Can be refrigerated at this point (covered) or used immediately. To use, roll to 1/16 inch thickness. Slice into strips, about 1 1/2 inch wide, 5 inches long. cut one inch slit in middle of strip, running long ways. Pull one end of the strip through this slit so it somewhat resembles a bow tie shape. Fry in 1-inch-deep, 375-degree oil until golden, turning once- should take less than one minute. Drain on paper towels. When cool, dust with powder sugar.
