Recipe: Coffee Puffs (Bisquick recipe)

COFFEE PUFFS

2 cups Bisquick
2/3 cup milk
1/4 cup seedless raisins
1/4 teaspoon anise extract (or 1/2 teaspoon anise seed) (optional)
1/3 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup blanched almonds, chopped fine or any other nuts
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Heat oven to 375 degrees F.

Mix Bisquick, milk, raisins, anise; stir with fork. Beat 15 strokes, stir with fork. Beat 15 strokes. Roll dough around on board lightly dusted with Bisquick. Knead gently 10 times to smooth up.

Divide into 15 balls. Roll in butter, then in mixture of the almonds, brown sugar and cinnamon.

Bake 15-18 minutes on greased baking sheet. Serve with butter.
