Recipe(tried): Cooler Weather Calls for Soup and..... (Split Pea Soup)

Menus
Hi Everyone,

I have been soooo busy lately; many little projects have cropped up, as they usually do before one of our beloved holidays. We are in the process of remulching. We use the red one and it makes the yard and garden stand out so beautifully. My wonderful neighbor Susan says', "It always looks so manicured". That's because every week we are out there tending to it, it is such therapy for the soul! I love it! My victory garden is very much in bloom, lots of red white and blue with petunias, geraniums and roses and some blues I don't know their names now!

Also, I have been on the lookout for three small dessert plates. I find them at yard sales, and they have flowers on them and they are from the 40's or 50's. So far I found 4 different ones, that's ok, I want them to be different. I want to serve dessert on them, I think they will make my table very eclectic! It's adorable to hear someone tell me it's history. I have also started on the old-timey wreath....

Last night we had a very simple meal. I started the soup around 3ish, and by 6 it was done, it was a little package of Manischewitz Split Pea Soup Mix. I followed the directions on the back. All I added was a slice of onion, chopped, 3 carrots, sliced, and 1 garlic clove. By the time it was ready, it was nice and thick, perfect for a cool night! We enjoyed it with ham and cheese sandwiches. I had found at Alberston's these three yummy onion rolls and right away I thought a sandwich would be great!! By the way, avocado slices in a sandwich is divine.

Happy Cooking, Gina
