Recipe: Crunchy Chews (Rice Krispie Treats using Karo Corn Syrup)

This recipe contains peanut butter; maybe you can alter the recipe. I have a Karo cookbook from 1965 that did not contain anything similar. Hope this works.

CRUNCHY CHEWS
Source: Best Recipes from the Backs of Boxes, Bottles, Cans and Jars by Ceil Dyer

3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup Karo corn syrup
3/4 cup peanut butter
4 1/2 cups crisp rice cereal
3/4 cup peanuts

Grease a 13x9x2-pan.

In saucepan mix together sugar and corn syrup. Bring to boil, stirring constantly over medium heat. Boil 1 minute.

Mix in peanut butter. Turn into prepared pan.

Stir in cereal and nuts. Press together firmly. Cool. Cut into squares.

Makes 4 1/2 dozen
