DUTCH GREEN BEANS
3 slices bacon
1 small onion, sliced
2 tsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1 (16 oz.) can cut green beans
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. vinegar
Cook bacon in large skillet until crisp; drain; crumble; reserve.
Pour off all but 1 tablespoon drippings; add onion; saute until tender.
Blend in cornstarch, salt and mustard. Drain beans, reserve 1/2 cup liquid. Stir the liquid into the skillet. Cook stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly.
Stir in brown sugar and vinegar. Add the beans; cook until hot.
Place in serving dish and sprinkle with the crumbled bacon. (Variations of this recipe also use chopped hard boiled egg as a garnish.)

Hi Debbie,
I hope someone will have the exact recipe you're looking for. In the meantime, here's one you can try. If you don't remember the dish tasting 'sweet and sour' you can substitute 1 tbsp. water for the vinegar. Mushrooms would be easy to add (you can saute sliced fresh mushrooms with the onion or use sliced canned mushrooms, drained and add them with the green beans).
