EASY EGG BRAID
"Make this traditional bread entirely in your bread machine or shape it into a braid and bake in a conventional oven."
1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
4 teaspoons butter, cut in 1/2 tsp. pieces
2 Tablespoons honey
1 large egg, room temperature
1/4 cup milk, room temperature
1/4 cup water
Honey Glaze (recipe follows)
Place ingredients in bread machine according to manufacturer's instructions. Select "Normal" program (or dough cycle). Press "Start." Bread machine will beep at end of program (after final kneading). Press "Stop/Reset;" remove dough.
Divide into 3 parts. Roll each third into 12-inch ropes. Pinch top ends together. On greased cookie sheet, loosely braid. Tuck ends under to seal. Cover; let rise in warm place until almost doubled, about 30 minutes.
Bake at 400 degrees F 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet.
Brush Honey Glaze on bread while still warm.
HONEY GLAZE
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon honey
Combine all ingredients; mix well.
Makes 1 loaf
