Recipe: Graham Brownies with Brownie Frosting (using graham cracker crumbs)

FOR THE BROWNIES:
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2/3 cup graham cracker crumbs (about 4 crackers)
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup Hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
FOR THE BROWNIE FROSTING (optional):
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
3 tablespoons Hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
1 to 2 tablespoons milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 9-inch square baking pan.
In medium saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter. Remove from heat; stir in granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add eggs; beat well with spoon. Add graham cracker crumbs, flour, 1/3 cup cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and nuts, stirring until mixture is well blended. Spoon batter into prepared pan.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until brownie springs back when lightly touched in center. Do not overbake Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
Frost cooled brownies with BROWNIE FROSTING, if desired. Cut into square.
TO MAKE THE BROWNIE FROSTING (optional):
In small bowl, combine 3 tablespoonss butter or margarine, softened, 3 tablespoons cocoa powder and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Add 1 cup powdered sugar and 1 to 2 tablespoons milk; beat to spreading consistency. About 1 cup frosting.
Makes 16 brownies
