Recipe: Half & Half Cookies
Misc. HALF AND HALF COOKIES
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
raisins or chocolate chips
(optional)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream shortening with eggs and
sugar. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking
soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternating with milk
and vanilla. (If using optional ingredients, add now.) Drop by
teaspoons onto greased sheet about 1-inch apart. Yields 2 1/2
dozen.

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 egg yolks (save whites for
top)
1 Tbsp. cold water
1/4 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
6 oz. chocolate chips
1/2 c. nuts
Topping:
2 egg whites
1 c. brown sugar
Cream shortening and sugars. In another bowl, mix dry
ingredients. Combine creamed mixture, dry mixture and liquids
gradually. Press into ungreased oblong pan. Sprinkle choco-
late chips and nuts over this.
Topping: Beat egg whites until fluffy; beat in 1 cup
brown sugar gradually. Spread over all in pan. Bake 45
minutes at 350 degrees. (Check at 35 minutes; don't overbake.)
