Hershey Syrup Cake

It is the same recipe I used 40 years ago and it IS one of the easiest and best!(I am rushing off to make it now, so I have not tested it in the last 20 years which is how long I've been looking since I lost it. However, I used to make it all the time)
HERSHEY SYRUP CAKE
1 stick margarine
1 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
1 16 oz. can Hershey Syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredients alternately with Hershey Syrup. Add vanilla; mix well and pour into greased sheet pan (9x13 inch). Bake 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool 10 minutes before icing.
Following is the chocolate icing I use which, with this cake, is definitely worthy of a "Death by Chocolate" award:
GLOSSY CHOCOLATE FROSTING
Mix thoroughly in a 2 qt. saucepan
1-1/2 cups sugar
6 tablespoons cornstarch (I use a little more for a firmer frosting)
Stir in
1-1/2 cups boiling water
3 squares(3 Oz.) unsweetened chocolate, cut into pieces
3/4 Tablespoon salt
Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until mixture thickens (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat.
Beat in
6 Tablespoons butter or margarine
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract.
Spread on cake while frosting is hot. Garnish with walnuts or shredded coconut
