Recipe(tried): How to Prepare Basic Wheat Berries - stovetop or crock pot
Recipe CollectionsWash the wheat berries and place in a saucepan with about 4 times as much water as berries. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 60 to 70 minutes.
You can also make wheat berries in a slow cooker (especially nice for breakfast, since they're ready and waiting for you when you get up). The night before, wash berries and place in slow cooker with about 4 times as much water. Start on high until water comes to a boil, then drop to Low or Keep Warm setting and run overnight.
In both cases, you will need to drain water from the berries when they're fully cooked. It's probably better to add too much water than too little--if you skimp, the wheat berries might not rehydrate properly and you'd have some tough little seeds in the mix.
