Recipe(tried): Jim Jams bar cookies

Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars
These were my favorite cookies as a little girl, now they are a bit on the sweet side, but still really good.

JIM JAMS BAR COOKIES

2/3 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar, divided use
1 cup granulated sugar, divided use
1 tsp vanilla
1 Tbsp water
2 eggs, separated
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 pkg chocolate chips

Blend shortening, 1/2 cup of each sugars, add vanilla, 1 tablespoon water and beaten egg yolks; beat well. Stir in dry ingredients.

Press dough into a greased 9x13-inch pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over top.

Add 1/2 cup of each sugars to egg whites while beating. Beat until stiff. Spread evenly over chocolate chips.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until brown.

Enjoy! Very decadent!!
