Recipe: Kalbi- or Bulgogi- Korean Barbecued Beef for dinner tonite!

Menus
Korean Barbecued Beef (BUL-K0-KEE)
While in Hawaii visiting family, I got hooked on Kalbi (though it goes by many names, and I believe 'kalbi' is the name for this marinade used with ribs). I have skewered the thin strips of meat, baked it, broiled it, and used it as a marinade for bbq steaks. However you eat it... it is GOOOOOOOOD! It is even good cold.

Yield: 4 servings

1 lb beef-top or sirloin steak (flank steak and tri-tip work well too)
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp. sesame oil
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
3 green onions; finely chopped
2 cloves garlic; minced
2 tsp. sugar, or to taste

Trim fat from beef; put in freezer for 45 minutes then cut beef diagonally across the grain into 1/8-inch slices.

Mix together remaining ingredients except sugar; stir in beef and coat well. Cover and marinate at in refrigerator at least 2 hours or overnight.

Remove from refrigerator, add sugar and marinate another 30 minutes. Bring beef to room temperature before cooking.

Stir fry in hot oil using a large skillet or wok over medium heat until light brown, 2 to 3 minutes, do not crowd the pan.

Serve with hot cooked rice.
