Recipe(tried): Lazy Day Lasagna

Main Dishes - Pasta, Sauces

This is one of my once a month meals, we had it tonight and it was great. Sorry I have not analyzed this yet because I make my own spagetti sauce with ground turkey and 93% lean ground beef, mushrooms etc. I rinse my meat in hot water after it cooks but I am still not sure. I am going to guess at 5 gms fat.

Name: lazy day lasagna
Serves: 10

Comments: The noodles cook while the lasagna cooks

Ingredients: 12 oz. lasagna noodles (uncooked)
2 (15 1/2 oz.) jars spaghetti sauce or the equivelant of homemade(Mine is homemade).
2 cups non-fat cottage cheese
16 oz. fat-free mozzarella, shredded
4 oz fat-free cheddar, shredded
1/2 cup parmasian cheese

Instructions:
In two 8x8-inch baking dishes, spreading one cup of the spaghetti sauce on the bottom of each dish. Then make layers in this order: uncooked noodles, cottage cheese mixed with parmasian, mozzarella and remaining spaghetti sauce;repeat. Wrap pan in foil; label and freeze. To serve: thaw completely (takes about 1 1/2 days in the refrigerator.) or defrost in microwave. I put one in on a plate at the meat setting for defrost 2lbs. It took 20 minutes and was not totally defrosted. If it is defrosted, bake tightly covered at 350 F for about 45 minutes, or until edges are bubbly and center is hot. If it is still frozen partially, watch it after 45 minutes check it and cook accordingly (It took me 1-2/2 hours) Take cover off during final 10 minutes of baking time. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
