Recipe(tried): Like Whipped Cream Frosting

Desserts - Fillings, Frostings

Hello Sunny,

Here's a recipe that I think might stand up to the heat. I haven't served it under hot conditions, but it's my guess that the flour in it may help it hold up longer than just a buttercream frosting. If anyone know's differently, please advise. I'm sure others will also have suggestions/recipes to share.

Like Whipped Cream Frosting (aka Poor Man's Icing)

Cook together, stirring constantly, until a thick paste forms:
3/4 cup milk
3 tablespoons flour
Set aside to cool.

Beat together:
3/4 cup mixture of butter and vegetable shortening (equal amounts)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Add butter/sugar mixture to the cold paste mixture.
Beat with electric mixer until creamy.
