Recipe: Macaroni Pizza and Maloogy

Hi June...here are two family favorite pasta dishes. One is baked and the other is more of a stove-top deal but, everyone loves it at the different gatherings I've taken it to. Hope you will too? Enjoy! Sandy G.

MACARONI PIZZA

2 cups elbow macaroni, cooked, and drained
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 cans (8 oz. each) tomato sauce
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms, drained
1 cup grated American cheese
1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese

Pour the cooked macaroni in a greased 9x13-inch baking pan or dish. Beat egg and milk together; pour over macaroni.

Brown the ground beef and onions; drain off any excess fat. Add seasonings, tomato sauce and mushrooms; pour over macaroni. Top with the cheeses.

Bake at 350 degrees F until cheese melts and its bubbly, about 20-25 minutes.

MALOOGY

Makes 6 servings

1 lb. ground beef
1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
1 medium green bell pepper, chopped (1 cup)
1/2 cup finely chopped celery
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans (14 1/2 oz. each) stewed tomatoes, cut up
1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
2 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
3 cups cooked pasta
Grated Parmesan cheese

Brown ground beef, with onions, peppers, celery and garlic; drain off any excess fat.

Stir in the remaining ingredients, except pasta and cheese; simmer, covered for about 30 minutes.

Stir in cooked, rinsed and drained pasta and heat through.

Serve in bowls with a generous sprinkling of grated Parmesan cheese.
