Recipe: New Easy California Tuna Bake (with photo, Star-Kist Tuna ad, 1960's)

2 cups milk, scalded
1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 1/2 tablespoons grated lemon peel
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash freshly ground black pepper
2 cans (6 1/2 ounces each) Star-Kist Tuna, chunk style
Pastry for 9-inch pie shell, unbaked
1 lemon, unpeeled, sliced (for garnish)
Pour scalded milk over crumbs in bowl. Stir well and blend in remaining ingredients except tuna.
Flake tuna into large pieces; fold lightly into mixture. Pour into greased (1 1/2-quart) baking dish.
Cut pastry to size of dish, making a circle in center. Brush with milk and place on top of tuna mixture.
Place in hot oven (450 degrees F) 10 minutes; reduce heat to (300 degrees F) and bake 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from oven.
Decorate with halved lemon slices and a few sprigs of parsley. Cut into serving-sized pieces and serve piping hot.
