Recipe: Old Fashion Fudge

Old Fashion Fudge

2 c. sugar
2/3 c. milk
1/3 c. cocoa
2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nuts (if desired)

Combine in saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Cook to 234 degrees or to soft ball test. Stir occasionally. Remove from heat. Add 2 tablespoons butter, cool without stirring to lukewarm. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until creamy and no longer glossy. Stir in 1/2 cup nuts, if desired. Pour out onto waxed paper or put in buttered pan. Score. Break in pieces when cool.
