Recipe: Old Fashioned Doughnuts

Breakfast and Brunch
OLD FASHIONED DOUGHNUTS

2 eggs, well beaten
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup milk
1/4 tsp. mace
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
3 1/2 to 4 cups flour

Combine all ingredients from first to last.

On floured surface, prepare and roll out dough to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut dough with doughnut cutter. Reroll and cut remaining dough until it is all used.

Fry in hot oil.
