Recipe: Orange Salad (using cottage cheese, pineapple, and Cool Whip)

Salads - Fruit, Gelatin
I know the salad you're referring to - years ago I had it - must have been at a church supper, that's when a lot of those things were made. This is not quite what you're looking for, but I think you could add the tapioca, and substitute either shredded or diced cheddar instead of (or in addition to) the cottage cheese.

ORANGE SALAD

1 (12 ounce) carton cottage cheese
1 (8 ounce) container whipped topping (Cool Whip)
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges
1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple
1/2 cup nuts (I favor pecans)
1 (3 ounce) package dry orange gelatin

Combine cottage cheese and whipped topping in a large mixing bowl, stir well.

Add oranges, pineapple and nuts and mix well.

Add gelatin and stir well.

Chill thoroughly.
