ORIGINAL DELMONTE PUMPKIN PIE RECIPE

I have the label from the can, the recipe is made the old custard way, so here goes.

1 3/4 cup milk
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 1/2 cups pumpkin puree (I use all of the large can)
1 1/3 cups sugar
4 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg (I use fresh)
1 teaspoon ground ginger
2 (9-inch) pie shells, unbaked

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

Heat milk and butter together until the milk is scalded.

Combine remaining ingredients for the filling. Then add a little of the scalded milk at a time till all is incorporated. Pour into pie shells.

Bake in 450 degree F oven for 15 minutes then reduce heat to 350 degrees F and continue baking for 35 minutes.

There is no other recipe that can beat this. It rocks!!
