It may not be Noodles & Company's recipe but the Food Channel offered their recipe and it is wonderful. I rarely cook with measurements - here goes. This can be served with our without chicken.
PENNE ROSA
chopped fresh garlic
olive oil
boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut in small pieces (optional)
heavy cream
freshly grated parmesan cheese
soy sauce
sun dried tomatoes
dried red pepper flakes
freshly chopped parsley (for garnish)
Saute garlic to taste and small pieces of chicken breast in olive oil.
Add heavy cream and alot of freshly grated parmesian cheese (that helps the disk thicken).
As it thickens add a touch of soy sauce, sun dried tomatoes and dried pepper flakes. Simmer until thickens to your taste.
Lightly toss the cooked penne rigate and sauce until coated. Top off with finely chopped fresh parsley and more grated cheese. Serve in warmed pasta dishes.
I find the key to the flavor is the balance of soy sauce and sundried tomatoes.
