Recipe: Puffed Rice Balls and Puffed Rice Treats (using corn syrup) - 4 recipes
Desserts - Candy, ChocolatePUFFED RICE BALLS
1/2 cup white corn syrup
1/2 cup dark corn syrup
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. butter
6 cups puffed rice
1 tsp. vanilla
Boil syrups, sugar, salt and vinegar until it snaps (300 degrees F on a candy thermometer).
Remove from stove and add butter and vanilla. Allow bubbling to slow down. Pour slowly over puffed rice. Mix with wooden spoon.
Grease hands with butter or spray coating. Shape into balls. Wrap individually in waxed paper.
OVEN PUFFED RICE TREATS
1 cup sugar
1 cup light Karo corn syrup
2 tbsp. white vinegar
1 box puffed rice
Nuts or peanuts (optional)
Boil sugar, Karo syrup and vinegar together, until it spins a thread or forms a soft ball in cold water.
Heat puffed rice in oven or microwave. Add nuts or peanuts. Pour syrup over all and spread on 2 to 3 well buttered cookie sheets or form into balls. May cool on wax paper.
PUFFED RICE DROPS (using peanut butter)
1 cup sugar
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup Karo corn syrup
6 cups Puffed Rice
Gum drops
Heat the sugar, peanut butter and Karo to boiling, stirring the mixture constantly as it burns easily.
Add 6 cups Puffed Rice. Stir and drop by teaspoonfuls. Top with gum drops.
