Recipe: re: creamer substitutes
Misc.According to various vegan/vegetarian sites, there are soy based creamer powders available, but I don't seem to be able to find any specific names for you:
Perhaps you could consider:
Delicious Homemade Coffee Creamer by Chef Deb
1 c Better Than Milk soymilk powder (Original or Vanilla)*
1 2-oz packet Chao Thai coconut cream powder
(or another brand, but this is one of the best)
1/4 - 1/2 cup sugar (or equivalent dry sweetener)**
Mix all ingredients well. Store in a jar with a good-fitting lid. Shake well before each use.
Add to HOT coffee, tea, cocoa, etc, to taste.
To use in cold drinks, dissolve in hot water, then add to drinks.
*Soy-Free Coffee Creamer
Use Better Than Milk rice milk powder in place of soymilk powder.
**Unweetened Coffee Creamer
Omit sweetener.
[Q & A for chef Deb:
Q. Does it have a strong coconut flavor?
A. No, it has very little, if any, coconut flavor.
Q. What about lumps?
A. Mixes nicely. Any lumps can be smoothed out
using your mixing spoon. Or eat them. They're tasty
Q. Isn't coconut bad for you?
A. Don't get me started.]
