Recipe: Turkish-Style Mocha (with cardamom)

Beverages
TURKISH-STYLE MOCHA

"More coffee than chocolate, this gets a distinctive flavor from cardamom. For best results, use cardamom seeds and grind them in a spice grinder."

3/4 cup ground dark-roast coffee
1 tablespoon ground cardamom
6 cups water
2 cups whole milk or half-and-half
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup chocolate syrup

Combine coffee and cardamom in a coffee filter. Brew the coffee in a coffeemaker with the 6 cups of water.

Meanwhile, heat the milk, sugar and chocolate syrup in a saucepan, stirring often, until hot but not boiling. Stir in the brewed coffee, pour into 4 cups and serve immediately.

Makes 4 servings
