Recipe: Recipe for A Happy Family Reunion
Recipe CollectionsAm very grateful ladies Thanks so very much! I am trying all the new recipes out I can get and willing to share any I have I am an old fashioned cook (I do everything from scratch ) my Nanny taught me as did my Pops, He was a awesome cook of his own accord as well! He cooked stuff that stuck to ya ribs and always told us youngin's never to trust a skinny cook! Well I am very trustworthy or would be if he were still here amongst us! He always said he was late for everything but supper and breakfast and then he was the first ta get there and tha last ta leave! I miss him! He made trhe best biscuits in Epworth, Ga right up there with my Nanny and made me at 11years old the #1 biscuit maker in 4-H for the Great State of Georgia! I do love the fact that my kitchen is the heart of my home as was the the kitchen in the house I grew up in, we saw more laughter, tears & stories in that room than any other in tha house and there was always a prayer being said for someone if we had finshed the meal! I miss those days! Kids now days have no clue what it was like to live like that! Mine are seeing my life though as I am mirroring what I was brought up in and showing them the way my Mom, my Nanny, my Pop and My Paternal Grandma Eva Long had the time and showed me the loving way to be when I reached adulthood! My children are seeing it now and learning it too and the oldest one Nathaneil age 20 is saying now he wants his children to be taught this way! I tell him the family that prays and eats together stays together! So from my kitchen to yours: May your hearts be filled with love for all, your dishes warm and tasty, your home kind and inviting, and your family blessed and safe and your rewards rich in treasures not measured by banks nor man! May you always eat of this recipe til you get your fill! And may the spirits that roam your home be those of loved ones who guide the younger one's ways in the directions they should walk and keep you on the path of the straight and narrow until the day that y'all all meet again, coming the the ringing of the dinner bell and filling the giant supper table talking of the things that makes you what y'all are.....FAMILY!
