Recipe(tried): Relish

Preserving - Pickles, Relishes
I make this relish every year and it's so simple and others seem to like it when I share it. Use it for hamburgers or hotdogs or add it to a potato or macaroni salad

Take a package of Mrs. Wages sweet pickle mix and mix it according to directions. Then shred cleaned not peeled cucumbers into the brine. Enough for the liquid to cover all the brine. Cook it for a little while. Then put in pint jars. Making sure there is brine in with the shredded cumcumbers. Insert knife to get air bubbles out. Then cap and water bath to recommended time on package for pickles. then use like you would relish. If you want to livin it up add a l tsp. of hot peppers on top of relish before capping and canning. It adds a little spice to it.

If you don't have available Mrs. Wages pickling packages in your area. Make a sweet pickle brine that you can find in the ball canning book and add shredded cucumbers to it.
