Recipe(tried): Reply to Christmas casserole

Main Dishes - Casseroles

Sandy, I've got a casserole recipe that would be good for a Christmas Morning
breakfast/brunch. I call it my "Almost Famous" breakfast casserole.
1 Lb. ground beef.
1 Lb. breakfast sausage ... I use Jimmy Dean's
1 med. onion - chopped
1 - 4 ounce can chopped green chiles - drained
1 egg
8 ounces lowfat cottage cheese
10 ounces mozarella cheese - grated
2 cans Pillsbury crescent rolls
vegetable cooking spray (PAM) butter flavored works well also.

Brown ground beef & sausage together with onion until done. Drain & set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine cheeses, egg and green chiles. Spray PAM on bottom &
sides of 9 x 13 baking dish. Unroll one can of crescent rolls and line bottom of dish. Press seams together with fingers. Layer half of beef/sausage mixture and half of cheese. Repeat with remaining meat & cheese. Top with second can of crescent rolls. Bake as per crescent roll package directions or until brown & flaky.

I don't know anyone who doesn't like this. It has become my signature dish here at work. The whole place knows when I take it out of the oven. Let me know if you try it and how everyone liked it.
