This is a great recipe for a roasted unstuffed whole turkey that has never failed in 20 years:
Fresh Butterball turkey is preferred. Remove giblets and rinse turkey well. Set into pan, breast side up. Pat dry with paper towel. Rub with olive oil all over.
Use short celery stalks to separate wings and legs from body. Season lightly with your favorite seasoning, DO NOT SALT OUTSIDE !!
Cover wing tips and breast with tin foil, to prevent overcooking. I like to also throw a bunch of carrots and a couple onions around the turkey, but not up against.
Preheat oven and follow package directions for temperature and duration for cooking. Make sure preheat is done well. Roast without pan cover or lid.
PLEASE do not baste the turkey. Half way through cooking, turn the pan around in oven.
Let cool for approximately 15 minutes after removing from oven.
You should achieve a golden brown juicy turkey.
