Recipe: Smokey Nuts (microwave)

Appetizers and Snacks
SMOKEY NUTS

2 cups warm water
2 oz. liquid smoke (Wrights, Reese, etc.)
5 tbsp. salt
1 1/2 cups almonds
1 1/2 cups English walnuts
1 1/2 cups pecans
1 cup hazelnuts

Add liquid smoke to the water and dissolve salt in the mixture.

Place nuts in shallow glass baking dish and pour the water mixture over. Wet thoroughly and let soak 1 hour; stir occasionally.

Drain nuts and discard liquid. Let nuts air dry for 1 hour.

Microwave 13 minutes on high, stirring after 8 minutes and every 2 minutes thereafter. Adjust cooking time proportionally if amounts are reduced or increased.

Remove and let cool completely before placing in closed container.
