Recipe: Spaghetti Pie with turkey sausage-low fat-(sorry no meatballs)

Main Dishes - Chicken, Poultry
I haven't been able to find anything with meatballs but maybe you can make some changes with this. . . hope it helps, Sue
SPAGHETTI PIE

6 ounces spaghetti
3 tablespoons Butter Buds
1/2 tablespoon egg substitute
1/2 cup grated fat-free Parmesan cheese
1 pound turkey sausages
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1 (8-ounce) can tomatoes, cut up, with their juice
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1 cup fat-free cottage cheese, drained
1/2 cup shredded fat-free mozzarella cheese

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a saucepan, cook the spaghetti according to package directions; drain and return to the pan. Stir in the Butter Buds, egg substitute, and Parmesan cheese. Press the spaghetti into a pie plate that has been sprayed with vegetable oil cooking spray, forming a crust.

In a nonstick skillet, cook the turkey sausage with the onion and green pepper, stirring to break apart the sausage, until brown. Drain, place in a colander, and rinse with hot water to remove any excess fat. Place in a saucepan; stir in the tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, and garlic salt. Heat thoroughly. Spread cottage cheese over the bottom of the spaghetti crust. Top with the meat mixture.

Bake uncovered for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with mozzarella and bake 5 minutes more, or until the cheese is melted.
