Homemade recipe for Special Garlic and Cheese Potatoes
3 to 4 large potatoes, uncooked
Mature cheddar cheese, grated and added to taste
4 to 5 cloves of garlic, crushed
1 cup of milk
1 egg, beaten
1 large oven dish, must be at least 6 inches deep.
Peel and slice potatoes to no thicker than 2-3mm each slice.
Layer the bottom of your oven dish with 2-3 layers of potatoes, cover potatoes with a thick layer of grated mature cheddar and then crush one clove of garlic over the top of the cheese, spreading out evenly. Continue to do this 3-4 times depending on how deep your oven dish is, ensuring you end up with a cheese and garlic layer to finish, not potatoes.
Mix milk and egg together and pour over the top of the cheese.
Transfer to oven on 180 degrees C (350 degrees F) and bake until potatoes are soft and cheese topping is browned off (cooking time will vary depending on number of layers and thickness of potato slices).
Serving suggestion: Best served with leg of lamb and vegetables of your choice.
