This is my favorite recipe for Stromboli. The ham you refer to may be an Italian Ham Prosciutto (which means ham in Italian). We enjoy this recipe with cream of tomato soup with the little fish crackers!
STROMBOLI
Pillsbury hot roll bread mix
FILLING:
1 pound hard salami (sliced and cut in pieces)
1 pound ham (sliced and cut in pieces)
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
8 oz. ricotta cheese
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 tbsp parsley
TOPPING:
milk or egg white
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a cookie sheet.
Prepare bread mix according to the box. Knead 5 minutes and cover for 5 minutes.
Roll out bread dough into a rectangle (I roll out dough on cutting board so I can flip dough later).
Mix filling ingredients together and place mixture in center of rectangle. Fold in ends first and fold over sides. Place seam side down on prepared cookie sheet (you will flip bread over to cookie sheet). Slash top with a sharp knife and brush with a little milk or egg white.
Bake 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool 5 minutes and slice.
Enjoy!
