Recipe(tried): SUNDAY DINNER AT OUR HOUSE

Misc.
Today for lunch, Florida produce was in the spotlight. I went to our wonderful produce store yesterday and bought out the store!

We had: grilled sirloin steak that was marinated overnight, fresh new potatoes, fresh green beans, Kristin's Corn on the Cob, Springtime Vegetable Melange, EZ Biscuits, CLAUSSEN Pickles, sweet tea with lemon, fresh strawberry shortcake.

Here are the recipes. I hope that you enjoy them!GRILLED SIRLOIN STEAK (MARINATED)

2 lb. pkgs. top sirloin steak
1 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup olive oil
3 T. sesame seeds
2 T. chopped onions
1 T. chopped garlic

Mix the soy sauce, olive oil, sesame seeds, onions, and garlic together. Pour into a large plastic Zip-Loc bag. Rinse the steak and cut it into serving pieces. Place the steak in the Zip-Loc bag and place it in the refrigerator. Let the steak marinate overnight.

Using the Maverick Healthy Grill, I grilled the steak indoors. The Maverick Grill is a contact grill similar to the George Foreman Grill. Spray the grill with PAM. FRemove the steak from the plastic bag and shake off excess marinade. Put the steak on the grill and grill until the steak is done to your liking.SPRINGTIME VEGETABLE MELANGE

3-4 Vidalia onions, sliced and separated into rings
1 pkg. mushrooms, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced thinly
1 green bell pepper, sliced thinly
1 can French Onion Soup, undiluted
1-2 tsps. soy sauce
1/4 cup white wine

Place the vegetables into a large pan. In a bowl, combine the soup, soy sauce, and white wine. Pour over the vegetables and cook until the onions are transparent. Serve over grilled steak.KRISTIN'S CORN ON THE COB

No one loves corn on the cob like Kristin. Using this recipe, it's quick and delicious!1-2 ears of corn per person
white paper towels

Remove the husk and silk from each ear of corn. Wrap each ear of corn separately in paper towels. Put the corn in the microwave and cook for 5-6 minutes. Remove one ear from the microwave. If the corn isn't done, microwave for 2-3 minutes more. Don't cook more than 4 ears of corn at a time. Serve with seasoned salt and butter.SOUTHERN STYLE GREEN BEANS

2 lbs. green beans, snapped with ends removed
3 T. bacon drippings
seasoned salt
1 tsp. sugar
water

Put the beans into a large pot and cover with water. PutPut the bacon drippings, salt, and sugar into the water. Cook until green beans are done--approximately 1 hour.FRESH NEW POTATOES

1-2 lbs. small red potatoes (we call them new)
2 T. vegetable oil
1 tsp. seasoned salt
water

Try to find the smallest potatoes that you can find at the produce stand. Put the potatoes into a large bowl of cold water. Let the potatoes stand in the water for about an hour. Remove each potato, scrubbing lightly with a vegetable brush. Place the potatoes into a large pot. Season the potatoes with vegetable oil and seasoned salt. Cook for 30-45 minutes or until potatoes are done.

My mama always "scraped" the new potatoes. She would lightly remove the skin with a knife and then cook them. Mine have never tasted like hers did so I cook mine with the peelings on.I try to ALWAYS cook enough lunch on Sunday so that we can have leftovers on Monday. Tomorrow night we will be having steak salad.

DEBBIE'S STEAK SALAD

1/2-3/4 lg. grilled steak sliced into thin strips (leftover from Sunday)
lettuce
tomatoes
baby carrots
grated cheese
croutons
leftover Springtime Vegetable Melange

Wash lettuce and put into a bowl. Slice the tomatoes thinly and put in with the lettuce. Place baby carrots on top of the tomatoes. Toss this in a salad bowl.

On each individual plate, put the lettuce mixture on the bottom, top with grilled steak and Springtime Vegetable Melange, grated cheese, and croutons. Serve with the dressing of your choice.

We will be having leftover beans and potatoes, too. Of course, for dessert we will be having strawberry shortcake.

Happy Sunday!
