Recipe(tried): Surfine Meringues

Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars
My college roommate brought these back after Christmas break. I have made them many times...they are great!

Surfine Meringues

2 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup sugar
16 oz. pkg. chocolate bits
cherries on top (optional)

Combine egg whites, salt, tartar, vanilla. Beat until soft peaks form. Add sugar slowly. Beat until stiff. Fold in chocolate bits. Cover cookie sheet with brown paper.
Drop by teaspoons full on paper covered cookie sheet. Bake at 300 degrees for 25 minutes. Take out of oven and top with cherry.

Makes 3 dozen cookies.
