Recipe(tried): Swedish Meatballs
Misc.Hi. I would be glad to share my swedish meatball recipe with you. This is
a family recipe that I grew up on. We would have these every year for
Christmas.
Swedish Meatballs
3 slices bread
1 cup milk
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/2 pounds lean beef, ground
1/2 lb. pork shoulder, ground
1/2 pound ground veal
1 small onion.
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground allspice
4 tbsp. butter
1) Remove crusts from bread. Soak bread in milk. Add slightly beaten eggs. Pour this mixture into meat and work with hands until well blended. Add onion, salt, sugar, pepper nutmeg and allspice. Continue to work with hands until mixture is light and fluffy.
2) Shape into round balls about the size of a walnut. Melt butter in skillet, add meat balls and cook until browned. Cover skillet and allow to steam over love heat 20 to 25 min.
30 Gravy may be made by adding 2 tbsp. flour to drippings in pan and thinning to desired thickness with mill
Yield: About 120 small meat balls.
