Wings and Drumsticks in Sweet and Spicy Barbecue Sauce
4 turkey wings, cut into thirds, discard tips
4 small turkey drumsticks
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 medium sweet onion, chopped fine
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon chili powder
to taste Tabasco
Parboil the wings and drumsticks for 30 minutes.
Preheat the grill.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan, add oil and saut onions about 2 minutes. Reduce heat. Add sugar, continue to cook and stir on medium heat for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Add all other ingredients. Reserve half of the sauce.
Brush the drained turkey pieces with sauce.
Grill the wings and drumsticks on a lightly oiled grill about 5 inches from the heat. Brush often during the cooking process and grill about 15 minutes on each side.
Continue to grill until the internal temperature is 170 degrees F in the thickest part of the wing and 180 degrees F. in the thickest part of the drumstick.
Serve with reserved sauce.
