ISO: Apple Butter?

Hello everyone! I am planning a fall wedding next year and would like to make apple butter as favors, can this be done, I am thinking no due to refrigeration purposes, but then how do they sell i in stores? Help! Can you tell I have never done this! I would need to make 30 jars. Thanks for any tips or advice!
