ISO: Assorted Recipe Requests
Misc.THANK YOU ALL for the great job you did helping fill the recipe requests from my overflowing mailbox! In fact, you were such a great help that I'll be posting a batch weekly and sending the requestors here to watch for their replies - maybe we'll get some new TKL Cooking Club members in the process!
Thank you in advance :-) I'll be interested in seeing the replies too!

I am desperately searching for a recipe for Greek rice. Nothing fancy,
Just a rice we have at a greek restaurant. I think it contains oil, lemon
juice, red pepper? Any help would be greatly appreciated, we have tried
searching all over the internet.

Do you have a copy of "the Betty Furness Westinghouse Cook Book"
prepared under the direction of Julia Kiene? The very old tattered one
I have [my Mother's] was printed in 1954. If you do, how much would it
cost? Jeanne

My husband and I run a non-profit acoustic folk music coffeehouse for the benefit of our church. I do all the cooking and baking for 75 people, once a month, 10 months out of the year. Most bar cookies recipes are converted to half-sheet size or what I call my turtle-brownie pan size, which is really like a double 9 X 13. This brings me to the real purpose of this e-mail. I have lost my original turtle brownie recipe which called for making the brownie part with melted german sweet chocolate. I have discovered other turtle brownie
bar recipes but they usually start with a cake mix (I'd rather make it
from scratch). Can you help? I don't think I need to tell you that
turtle = chocolate, pecan and caramel, but just in case, there it is.
Hope you can help. I have two more queries for you about recipes that I used to have but cannot find. One is a meatloaf recipe that I found about 20+ years ago on the back of a Sunmaid raisin box. Yes, it had raisins, which made it very unique, and it also had grated cheese. The other was a receipe for red beans and rice which started out by sauteing bacon until it was crisp and then.... and then. That receipe was on the back of an Uncle Ben's converted rice box. There are many red beans and rice receipes but none quite like
that one. I have searched and searched, including in the Brand Names
receipes cookbook and the "back of the box" receipe book. Nada. If you
have any suggestions, they would be appreciated. Next question (a
friend told me she saw that turtle brownie receipe on the back of a box
of Swans Down Cake Flour), how do I get in touch with Swans Down, is
there a parent company??. Help!
Thanks. Anything you can come up with would be great.
Regards, Brandi

Dear Kitchen Link Lady,
I've been searching for a good recipe or recipes for Nanaimo Bars.
They're rich, chewy, and special. When I lived in British Columbia there
was always a plate of them at every gathering, and they disappeared like
magic. They originated in Nanaimo, British Columbia a very long time
ago, and Nanaimo is famous for having an abundance of variations of the
famous Bar. Only I can't seem to find them! Can you help me?
Thank you!
Johanna

Hope you can help me with this...
A couple years ago I had a "raspberry silk pie" at a restaurant. The pie itself was not raspberry, it was sort of a very light custardy pie (vanilla), and topped with raspberry puree`. Does this sound familiar? I sure hope you can help - that was probably the best pie I've ever eaten!
Thanks!!

My son has food allergies and I was wondering if you knew of any recipes that
did not have yeast in them and contained other grains beside wheat that can
be used in the bread machine? He has a wheat allergy and has a yeast problem.
He is also allergic to eggs, both parts, potato, tomatoe, beef and shrimp. If
you can help I would be greatful. Thank you

Thank you for offer a site where we can discuss baking issues.
I have a question concerning a delicious carrot cake I bake. After it is
baked, sometimes there are green specs in it. I tastes great but it looks
unappealing. Please tell me how this happens, how I can prevent it and what
it is. Thank you again. This is really upsetting.
Yours truly,
Jodgie
