Recipe: Hough's Hot Toasted Mushroom Sandwiches
Appetizers and SnacksHOT TOASTED MUSHROOM SANDWICHES
1 pint mushrooms, coarsely ground
1 small onion shopped very fine
3/4 teaspoon salt
Dash of black pepper
Butter
1 Tablespoon flour
1 cup of thick cream sauce
20 thin slices of sandwich bread
Butter
Saute the mushrooms, onion, salt and pepper in butter until mushrooms are cooked. Add flour to thicken. Lastly add the cream sauce. Let cool.
Remove the bread crusts (optional). Spread the paste on a slice of bread, top with another slice. Brush tops with melted butter. Cut into triangles. Toast the unbuttered side ahead of time; just before serving toast the buttered side.
