I was so excited to see your recipe for Cavezune, an Italian Christmas treat, handed down in our family for generations. My grandmother titled it, "Pasta Del" and we now realize that it referred to our family name. Grandmother used citron instead of grapes, dates, etc. She also liberally doused the filling with brandy, cognac or rum, whichever was in her liquor cabinet. I suspect that this recipe is of Neopolitan origin. My grandfather's family made chocolate in France, so I believed that the recipe was French, originally. Does anyone have anything to add to my description? I'm about to make this delicious pastry for my family's enjoyment, Christmas 2006.
