barb,the cake is like a coffee cake on the bottom with a bright yellow buttery topping not creamy colored on the top like a gooey butter cake.then it is sprinkled with powderedsugar after itis baked.the cake is in two distinct layers and not as sweet as a gooey butter cake.thank you, steph
